Bulging disc

Question:

I have MRI scans which demonstrate "slight" disc bulges at L4-L5 and L5-S1. The surgeons I've seen so far do not recommend surgery, however physical therapy is not helping much.
I'm suffering from loss of sensation and muscle control in lower right leg and experience persistent numbness in outer toes (consistent with S1 nerve root impingement)this is accompanied by severe pain in lower back and buttocks.

i'd like to know if i'm a possible candidate for any of the microsurgery methods.
Is there a way for me to send my records and/or films to someone out there to review??

Answer:

A small disc bulge in exactly the right spot can cause significant problems that may not go away with physical therapy.

Major open surgery is a big thing to have done. Small outpatient endoscopic procedures can correct the problem without an open operation.

You should send out copies of your scan.
